Awarding innovation

R&D magazine is looking for companies involved in technical innovation to enter its 49th annual R&D 100 Awards. Open to industry, academia and government departments, entries must be received by 28 February.

Design conferences

Intersections 2011 is a 2-day conference at the Eden Project on 2 and 3 March. Examining the relationship between business change and the new opportunities for design practice, the conference will bring together leading industry figures offering insights from IDEO, Think Public, Elmwood, More Associates, Forpeople and Thomas Matthews.

A national conference promoting the value of design to business and the wider community is being held at The Sage, Gateshead on 15 and 16 March. Confirmed keynote speakers at Design means Business include Aston Martin, Dyson, P&G, King of Shaves, Nissan, and Hasbro.

SCDF 5th Anniversary

The deadline for submissions to the SCDF 5th Anniversary book has been extended to 31 March. The Forum is looking to include creative ideas around the number 5 and entries will be collated into a book which will then be available to purchase. Send your high resolution file, PDF, JPEG or EPS, 180 x 180mm to Richard Wolfströme at richard@scdf.org.uk together with your name, company, email, website, creative director, designer, photographer and any other required credits.

Designs of the Year

The London Design Museum will host all 90 nominees in the Brit Insurance Designs of the Year 2011 from 16 February – 7 August. Intended to pick out the best architecture, fashion, furniture, graphics, interactive, product and transport designed worldwide in the last year, the overall winner will be announced on 15 March.
