Designing Demand is an innovative programme developed by the Design Council, and delivered in the South East by South East Design, to help businesses use design more effectively. The programme focuses on how design drives improved performance and produces a stronger bottom line.
This film follows the experience of Prosperity Brownies, a small, but fast growing, award winning manufacturer of chocolate brownies, as they move through the Designing Demand process.
Originally the market for Prosperity Brownies was limited – they were sold either individually (unwrapped) or packed in a simple plastic wrapper which didn’t allow the customer to see the product. In order to expand the business Prosperity needed to repackage the brownies to reflect the premium quality of the product and at the same time significantly prolong the shelf life.
With the help of Designing Demand, Prosperity Brownies worked with a Design Agency to produce new eye catching packaging made from 100% recycled material.
The shelf life of the brownies has been increased from 12 to 30 days and Prosperity have gained a raft of new contracts including Budgens, Co-op stores, National Trust shops and Waitrose in the South East.
